ReluxObtrusiveLight – Glare evaluation: K-values
To evaluate the glare situation caused by obtrusive light for exterior lighting installations, standards like LAI 2012 and
ÖNORM O 1052:202
are recommending to use the K-value
.
K-values for assessing the psychological glare effect of a light source, are determined by placing luminous intensity points.
The luminous intensity points should be located at the observers positions.
Further parameter settings in the properties should be activated. In particular the checkbox "Glare Rating" (Obtrusive Light) followed by the right environmental zone and the right Lu value (ambient luminance of the exterior scenery).
By starting the "Calculate" button under the menu tab obtrusive light, K-value results will be generated.
In the output results "Glare Rating" (Obtrusive light), the printed K-value results are shown.
K-value results with a green tick are in line with the chosen standard. Where a red tick appears, corrections should be further considered.
